About

Pitches

What are we looking for?

The Camera is looking for sharp, surprising, and compelling writing on all things culture: interviews with creatives, reviews of current exhibitions, plays, and upcoming books, essays written in a strong personal voice that explore ideas at the intersection between modern life and intellectual history.

We are a creative and journalistic publication and are not after term-time essays or offcuts of your PhD research. We offer the opportunity to grow a non-academic portfolio of writing. Send us only what you’d be proud to present to a magazine or an agent for proof of your flair: beautifully crafted, intellectually serious, witty, original, incisive pieces of writing.

If you’d like to get a sense of the type of articles we publish, the best place to look is our website: https://thecamerapublication.com

To submit a pitch, please fill out our pitch form. Feel free to email us if you have any questions and we will get back to you within a few days.

I want to write for you but I don’t have any ideas right now. Do you ever commission writers?

Yes! We are keen to commission writers about specific cultural topics, releases and events and will get in touch with writers we know to see if anyone would like to write for us.

If you would like to be added to our contacts list of writers for commission consideration, please send one or two samples of journalistic writing to thecamerapublication@gmail.com along with a brief summary of writing experience.
